The brief
We began working with our clientโs early on in this project. We were very kindly recommended to them by some friends of theirs who had got their kitchen from us a few years before.
The plans showed a great space for the kitchen and an early site visit confirmed this one was going to be pretty special, with stunning views forming the backdrop for the big, dramatic space.
On the client’s wish list was a big island, a bank of tall units with loads of ovens, refrigeration and storage. Plus, the possibility of a secret walk-in pantry.
The design
We hit upon a layout the clients liked pretty early on. We designed a big bank of tall units with a big island and then set about refining and fine tuning the layout along with the finishes and textures.
The key detail in this kitchen is the use of beautiful oak for the shelving elements. We used a simple graphite concrete and white cabinetry scheme but then lifted it with subtle use of some illuminated oak details.
We then mirrored this scheme in the pantry, which sits behind a Crittall style door. The pantry lighting adds even more interest, pulling the eye towards it.
For worktops, we used beautiful Caesarstone Empira White quartz. And for the appliances, itโs Siemens Studioline and Bora all the way.
How it worked out
The space is simply stunning.
Doing it justice with a kitchen that doesnโt dominate the space but simply enhances it is something we are very proud of. In all the years we have worked on kitchens, this is one of our absolute favorites. In any house it would be a beautiful kitchen, but in this house, it feels like youโre tucked away in a super luxurious mountain hideaway.
We love it!
What the client said
โWe would like to thank Jamie and Ed at Black Rok for our amazing German kitchen.
From design concept to installation, they have been professional throughout and ensured we have achieved our dream modern kitchen. The quality of the build is what you would expect from a Germany company, but the little details from different draw and cupboard configurations, to the lighting has made the difference.
