Finding out what matters
In all the years we have been designing kitchens the only thing they all have in common is that they are all different. There simply isn’t ‘one size fits all.’ Sure, there are certain principles we try and adhere to that we know work but what makes a kitchen really special is that it truly reflects the individual wants and needs of the client.
Getting to what really matters is a bit of an art. Over the years we’ve developed a system we call the discovery phase. It’s simply an hour or so of questions, demonstrations and ideas. We thought it might be useful to show you how this looks so below there’s an example from one of our recent discovery sessions.
And if you’re not quite ready to book a meeting then check out our Brochure. It goes deep into these areas, there’s a link below. It’s not just pictures of beautiful kitchens it’s written to help you learn what’s possible and help you find out what really matters to you.

I want to stand at the hob, drinking a beer whilst watching Man Utd on my 60 inch TV.
And when it’s my turn to empty the dishwasher (which it always is!) I want to be able to put everything away without taking more than two steps. If I’m making a cup of tea I want to be able to complete the whole process without needing to walk from one end of the kitchen to another.
And if we have friends over, I want them to be able to socialise with me whilst not getting in my ‘cooking space.’ I want my kitchen to look minimal but I don’t want it to look cold.
I don’t want lots of storage because I will just end up storing lots of pointless stuff but I want the storage I do have to be highly functional where I can see and access everything easily.
I don’t want over complicated appliances, I just want rock solid, well made ones that will last and last. I want a sink area that’s next to the bin and the dishwasher. And I want an area where I can deal with making breakfast.
I don’t need acres of worktops as they will just be a dumping ground but I want at least one dedicated prep area where I can peel and chop and not be fighting with the toaster.
And at night I want the space to light up elegantly, I don’t want Blackpool illuminations but I want the lighting to blend subtle sophistication with practical functionality.
And when it comes to the style, I want simple lines, I don’t like fussy, and I want something timeless where the doors and drawers close with soft, damping and keep on doing it for years and years to come.
Oh and make it easy to clean. I accept that ketchup will always be ketchup but I want it to be easy to wipe down. And I need somewhere for my beer and even more important, I need somewhere for my wife’s wine. Happy wife, happy life!!!

It’s an hour of learning and at the end of that process we’ll know what you want but even more important than that, so will you.
